Companies of all sizes are starting to realize the power of Twitter and social media for generating new leads, building your brand and sharing information with thought leaders in your industry. In this post, we take a look at some of the most powerful social media tools (mostly free) that will help you connect with your audiences.
We have been using Sprout social to manage all of our social media accounts for over a year now and have been nothing but satisfied. Sprout Social, a cloud-based application, allows you to tweet from multiple accounts with a single sign-on, search across facebook, twitter and other social media networks like Linkedin for keywords and automatically generates custom reports for each of your accounts. One of our favorite features on Sprout Social is “scheduling.” Scheduling allows you to queue up posts to any of your linked accounts so that you can spend concentrated time focusing on social media and have multiple days of content in the pipeline.
Additionally, Sprout is always releasing improvements to their application and have a killer mobile application. Their 3rd party integration with sites like bit.ly make the product that much better.
We first started using Follower Wonk to find out who our most influential followers were. Follower Wonk is all about providing you with hard numbers about the influence and engagement of your Twitter followers. How many high influence accounts are following you? Once you have this information, you can begin to target tweets at your bigger followers and ask them to retweet for you or to help your cause. You would be surprised by the altruism that people often show when asked to help out.
Just Unfollow allows you to stay lean and clean on Twitter, and allows you to avoid following inactive accounts which is bad for engagement percentages. In that same vein, following low influence accounts that don’t follow you back doesn’t help either unless they are posting amazing content.
This site is great for brainstorming and discovering new popular and effective hashtags to use in your tweets. Hashtags are a great way to expand to new areas and people on Twitter. It helps you find relevant discussions and to expand your knowledge and to stay on top of particular topics. Try it out for your Twitter account!
